Cybercampus Graduate School kicks off
A national research journey
The first cohort of PhD students in the Cybercampus Graduate School gathered in Stockholm for a two-day kickoff. The event marked the formal launch of the graduate school and laid the foundation for a national research community in cybersecurity.
PhD students, supervisors and representatives from universities and partner organizations across Sweden came together to get to know one another, establish collaborations and build a shared understanding of the goals and expectations of doctoral studies in Sweden.
Research projects and synergies
A large part of the programme was devoted to the PhD students' own research. Together with representatives from their supervising institutions, the students presented their projects and discussed how collaboration between universities can strengthen research outcomes. The presentations also highlighted potential synergies between projects within the graduate school.
Doctoral life, ethics and data
Participants received introductions to doctoral education and life in Sweden, research ethics, research data management, and equality and diversity. The second day also featured demonstrations from the Cybercampus Hacking Lab, an introduction to the graduate school's communication channels, and an overview of upcoming activities and community-building efforts.

The first course is under way
One of the highlights was the start of the graduate school's first doctoral course, Introduction to Privacy and Privacy Enhancing Technologies. The course marks the beginning of the students' academic journey together and provides a common foundation for future studies and collaboration.
"The two days at Cybercampus were an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better and also present and discuss our first observations and results of our research. I'm sure that this was the start of a great journey with an incredible team," says doctoral student Johannes Hammen.
Next steps
With the kickoff behind them, the PhD students now continue their research projects. Ahead lie joint courses, networking activities, secondments and collaborative research – all contributing to a growing national network for cybersecurity research and competence in Sweden.
