Cybercampus Sweden Launches PhD School to Strengthen National Cybersecurity Research

Cybercampus Sweden is proud to announce the upcoming launch of its PhD school—an eagerly awaited initiative with a unique structure, as well as the first national PhD school on cybersecurity. Each PhD project will be co-supervised by experts from at least two participating organizations. This collaborative model allows us to bring together knowledge from different fields and enables research efforts that go beyond what individual institutions can achieve on their own.
Following a thorough selection process to identify projects aligned with our research strategy, we are now beginning the recruitment of PhD candidates. Supervisors for these projects come from a broad range of stakeholders, including universities, regional authorities, and research institutes.
One of the main themes among the selected projects is Trustworthy AI, which closely aligns with our mission and strategic goals. These projects also support the objectives outlined in Sweden’s national AI roadmap, which emphasizes the importance of developing and using artificial intelligence in a sustainable, secure, and competitive way. The research will address topics such as vulnerability and threat analysis, as well as privacy protection in the use of social robots.
The launch of the PhD school marks a significant step forward in our commitment to building a more cyber-secure Sweden. We will share updates through our channels as the research projects begin.

“The PhD school represents an important milestone in Sweden’s efforts to strengthen national cybersecurity research capacity", says Professor Shahid Raza, Research Director and co-founder of Cybercampus Sweden. "By engaging leading experts from Swedish universities with newly appointed PhD students, hosted partly at Cybercampus, we are creating an environment where the next generation of researchers can not only produce excellent science but also translate their research into new startups that will benefit Sweden,” Professor Raza continues.
