RESIST launched at Cybercampus: a national meeting point for cyber-resilient AI

Published Oct 01, 2026

On 1 October, Cybercampus Sverige hosted the launch of RESIST, the SSF Strategic Research Center on Cyber Resilient AI. The event brought together people from industry, the public sector and academia. They met at Cybercampus on Valhallavägen in Stockholm to explore how AI systems can be made robust, secure and trustworthy.

AI is spreading quickly across industry, public authorities and society. That makes cyber-resilience both a strategic need and a shared responsibility, and RESIST  was set up to meet that challenge.

David Olgart, Director of Cybercampus Sverige, opened the day:

“We are very pleased that RESIST has chosen Cybercampus Sweden for its launch event. RESIST addresses a critical challenge at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity. Hosting the event demonstrates Cybercampus’ role as a national meeting place. Together, we can tackle challenges that no single actor can solve alone.”

After the welcome, RESIST director Fredrik Heintz introduced the center and its principal investigators. He then gave an overview of the center’s work: competence development, education and training, policy and strategy advice, and coordinating collaboration between research, industry and the public sector.

“Today we had the pleasure of launching the strategic research center RESIST at Cybercampus. As AI takes on an increasingly important role in society, it becomes ever more important to ensure that AI systems are secure and resilient. Together with companies and societal actors, our vision is to make Sweden a role model in secure and trustworthy AI by pioneering cyber-resilience throughout the entire AI lifecycle.

Launching the center at Cybercampus Sweden gave us a national platform where research, industry and public authorities meet. That is exactly what is needed, because cyber-resilient AI is a shared concern for all of Sweden.”

The program included keynotes from Mario Fritz (CISPA), Emil Lupu (Imperial College London), Mattias Gröndal (Cparta), Pontus Johnson (KTH) and Otto Elmgart (Nationellt cybersäkerhetscenter, NCSC). In the afternoon, partners gave position statements: Jakob Sternby (Ericsson), Teodor Sommestad (FOI), and Per Andersson and Irene Ek (MCF). A panel discussion moderated by Fredrik Heintz followed. The day closed with a session on how organisations can get involved through RESIST’s strategic research agenda and affiliation program.
